**Official National Weather Service forecasts for Chicago issued on September 12, 2026, project an overnight low near 64–65°F under partly cloudy skies with light northwest winds, supporting the strong market consensus around 66–67°F as the daily minimum.** This aligns with observed conditions featuring mild southerly flow earlier in the period transitioning to clearer, drier air that limits further cooling, keeping temperatures above the late-summer climatological average low near 60°F. National Weather Service point forecasts and ensemble guidance show limited spread, with minimal risk of radiational cooling below 63°F given the expected cloud cover and wind. A realistic challenge would require unexpected clear skies and calm conditions promoting stronger surface cooling, or a shift in the official station reading (typically O’Hare) that places the minimum in the low 60s. Updated model runs or post-sunset observations could refine this before final resolution.
