Forecast models from the National Weather Service and ensemble guidance show a cold front crossing the region Thursday night into Friday, shifting winds from southerly to northerly and advecting a drier, cooler air mass into New York City. This setup favors clearing skies and reduced humidity overnight into September 18, supporting a minimum temperature most likely in the upper 60s to low 70s°F, consistent with the market's heaviest positioning on the 70-71°F bin. Historical September climatology places average lows near 61°F, yet current guidance reflects milder conditions than typical for mid-month due to the timing of the frontal passage and limited radiational cooling under partly cloudy skies. Updated model runs and official NWS briefings on Friday morning will provide the key data points for any late adjustments in implied probabilities.
