Recent National Weather Service forecasts and ensemble model guidance point to a high in the low 80s for New York City on September 17, with southwest flow and partly cloudy conditions supporting the market's leading 82–83 °F bin. Current observations show a building ridge and moderating temperatures after cooler northerly flow earlier in the week, keeping values near seasonal norms rather than pushing into the mid-80s or higher. Key variables that could shift outcomes include afternoon cloud cover limiting insolation, boundary-layer mixing from sustained southerly winds, and any revisions in short-range guidance from the GFS or ECMWF runs. Traders appear to weigh these uncertainties evenly across the 80–85 °F range, consistent with typical forecast spread two days before verification.
