Official observations from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport recorded an overnight low in the low 50s Fahrenheit on September 11, aligning with the market's dominant 52-53°F outcome. Regional forecasts from NOAA models anticipated mild conditions under overcast skies with light northerly flow and no significant cold-air advection, consistent with the September climatological average low near 54°F. The absence of early-autumn frontal passages or radiational cooling under clear skies kept minimum temperatures above historical extremes for the date. Traders priced in this consensus because preliminary climatological summaries and real-time station data converged on that narrow range, with limited upside or downside volatility once the sun set. Minor adjustments could arise only from final quality-controlled readings or differences between airport and urban microclimates.
