Recent weak US July Nonfarm Payrolls data, showing a 23K jobs decline versus forecasts for gains, sharply reduced market-implied odds of a September Federal Reserve rate hike and drove gold (XAU/USD) higher by more than 7% during the week. Softer labor market signals eased inflation concerns tied to prior energy prices, lowered Treasury yields, and supported dollar weakness, all of which favor the non-yielding metal. Geopolitical de-escalation in the Middle East further tempered safe-haven flows early in the period. Traders now focus on the September 15-16 FOMC meeting and upcoming inflation releases for clarity on the policy path, with gold futures trading near $4,340 amid elevated volatility.
