Gold trades near $4,050 per ounce as of August 1, 2026, after peaking above $5,500 earlier in the year and correcting amid a stronger U.S. dollar and hawkish Federal Reserve signals that have limited expectations for rate cuts through 2026. Elevated real yields and a firmer greenback have weighed on bullion despite persistent central bank purchases and Middle East geopolitical tensions. Key near-term catalysts for the week of August 3 include July manufacturing and services PMI releases, unemployment data, and initial jobless claims, which could shift trader views on inflation trajectories and monetary policy. Market-implied ranges for August cluster between roughly $3,900 and $4,450, reflecting technical support near $4,000 and resistance at recent highs.
