This market will resolve based on the highest wind speed, in miles per hour, reported on the summit of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire in September, 2026. The resolution source will be data published by the Mt. Washington Weather Observatory. F6 reports containing daily wind speed recordings can be found here: https://mountwashington.org/weather/mount-washington-weather-archives/monthly-f6/. The resolution source for this market measures wind speeds to whole mile per hour (eg, 67mph). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to the wind speed recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following month has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.**Mount Washington Observatory data show September peak gusts average around 94 mph historically, with a long-term record of 174 mph tied to Hurricane David remnants in 1979 and more typical recent values near 85–93 mph.** As the summit transitions from summer’s lighter winds (July–August medians often below 50 mph) into stronger autumn pressure gradients, the primary drivers of extreme gusts remain late-season tropical systems or their extratropical remnants that can track near the Northeast. With the Atlantic hurricane season peaking in September, National Hurricane Center track and intensity forecasts will be the dominant near-term catalyst. Continuous anemometer readings from the staffed observatory provide the official resolution data, and any early-month storm systems could quickly shift implied probabilities across multi-outcome thresholds.
