Recent National Weather Service forecasts highlight a cooling trend into early September for the Black Rock Desert, with daytime highs projected near 86–94°F during Burning Man’s opening window due to a passing cold front and moderating southwesterly flow. This short-term outlook balances against NOAA’s September 2026 climate prediction favoring above-normal temperatures across the Intermountain West, supported by strengthening El Niño conditions and long-term warming trends. Desert diurnal ranges of 25–35°F, gusty winds up to 30 mph, and low precipitation chances add variability to daily maxima, while historical late-August peaks near 95–100°F contrast with early-September norms around 80–85°F. Closely matched market odds around 40–45% across bins reflect trader assessment of model spread and the narrow window for any single daily high to resolve the market.
