Recent forecasts from the National Weather Service and WeatherBug indicate showers likely with a 50-60% chance of thunderstorms on September 2, driven by moist southeast flow and extensive cloud cover that limits daytime heating. This setup favors a daily high in the mid-70s rather than the early-September climatological average near 80°F, as reduced insolation and evaporative cooling from precipitation suppress peak temperatures. Model consensus points to 74-77°F under humid conditions, explaining the tightly clustered market-implied odds around those bins, with lower probabilities for extremes reflecting uncertainty in exact timing and intensity of the rain shield. Updated NWS briefings and ensemble runs over the next 48 hours will refine the precise maximum.
