Recent National Weather Service forecasts highlight a heat wave across the Los Angeles basin, with downtown highs projected near 101°F under an extreme heat warning and inland areas reaching 93–103°F, while coastal stations like LAX are expected around 92°F. This spread stems from marine layer influences, afternoon sea breezes, and urban heat island effects that can shift peak readings by several degrees depending on exact measurement location and timing. Model consensus supports mid-90s as the most likely range at the primary reporting station, though stronger onshore flow or delayed mixing could cap the daily maximum below 96°F. Traders appear to weigh these variables against historical September baselines near 76–77°F and recent observations of 93°F on September 7.
