Recent forecast models from sources including the China Meteorological Administration and international ensembles point to persistent cloud cover, moderate northeast winds, and scattered showers as the main factors capping Shanghai’s daytime maximum near 30–31 °C on September 4. These conditions are expected to limit solar heating while keeping humidity elevated, consistent with early-September climatology for the region. Model consensus across multiple runs shows little support for extremes above 32 °C or below 29 °C, aligning with the market’s heavy weighting toward the 30 °C and 31 °C outcomes. Updated guidance from official agencies over the next 48 hours will be the key driver of any final shifts in implied probabilities.
