Current National Weather Service-aligned forecasts indicate a high near 87°F for Chicago on September 4, 2026, following a hot spell with mid-90s readings on September 2. Moderating easterly winds off Lake Michigan, combined with 40-50% chances of morning showers and thunderstorms, are expected to cap daytime heating through reduced solar insolation and increased cloud cover. These factors create tight clustering in market-implied odds around 86-91°F, as small shifts in storm timing, lake-breeze strength, or boundary-layer mixing could differentiate outcomes within that narrow range. Historical September 4 averages near 80°F underscore the elevated but uncertain warmth relative to climatology.
