Persistent humidity and cloud cover from a moist subtropical airmass, combined with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, are limiting nocturnal radiative cooling and keeping overnight lows elevated in Houston. Official forecasts from the National Weather Service and models indicate a minimum temperature in the upper 70s to around 80°F on September 3, consistent with dew points near 75°F that restrict the diurnal range. Trader sentiment clusters around 76–83°F outcomes because small variations in storm timing, wind, or localized clearing could shift the exact low by a few degrees, while the slim odds on 90°F+ reflect low-probability scenarios of minimal cooling under heavy overcast. Historical September averages near 75°F underscore how current conditions deviate from climatology.
