Recent National Weather Service guidance and model runs point to modest overnight cooling in San Francisco on August 30 amid a variable marine layer and light to moderate southwest onshore flow. These conditions, typical of the region’s Pacific-influenced climate with coastal upwelling, support a lowest temperature near the historical average low of 56°F at SFO. Stratus and fog development limits radiational cooling while wind speeds and boundary-layer moisture introduce small spreads across ensemble forecasts, producing tight market-implied probabilities across the 54–59°F ranges. Traders weigh these factors against climatological baselines, with any deepening of the marine layer or clearer skies potentially shifting the outcome within the clustered outcomes.
