Latest National Weather Service forecasts for August 29 highlight sunny skies with highs in the lower-to-mid 80s°F at coastal stations like LAX and the low-to-mid 90s°F downtown, driven by persistent onshore southwest flow and residual marine layer effects that limit inland heat penetration. These conditions follow an extreme heat episode earlier in the week, with models showing modest cooling from peak values near 100°F as a weak trough approaches. Trader consensus favoring the 82–85°F range reflects emphasis on official airport or downtown observations, where sea-breeze moderation and overnight low clouds could cap the daily maximum near the forecast envelope. Key uncertainties include exact wind speeds and any late-day clearing that might allow brief additional warming before resolution criteria are met.
