SpaceX’s completed June 2026 IPO at a $1.77 trillion valuation, which surged above $2 trillion on its first trading day, underpins the 57.4% market-implied odds favoring it over OpenAI for a higher IPO market cap. The aerospace firm’s audited revenue growth, Starlink momentum, and large-scale capital raise established a concrete public benchmark, while OpenAI’s latest private round valued the company near $850 billion before CEO Sam Altman ruled out a 2026 listing in favor of 2027 to prioritize AI safety and alignment work. Trader consensus reflects these timing and valuation gaps, though OpenAI’s AI revenue trajectory or a surprise late-2027 debut at or above $1 trillion remains a potential swing factor for the eventual comparison.
