Chen Ting-fei, the Democratic Progressive Party nominee who secured her party's Tainan mayoral nomination after winning a January 2026 primary against Lin Chun-hsien, leads trader pricing at 88 percent. Incumbent Mayor Huang Wei-che's term-limited exit and reported 70.9 percent approval rating in late August polling provide continuity advantages, with Huang serving as campaign chair and President Lai Ching-te listed as honorary head. Hsieh Lung-chieh, the Kuomintang nominee who lost to Huang by a narrower margin in 2022, trails at 5 percent amid Tainan's long-standing DPP structural edge in local elections. Recent campaign registration deadlines and party unity efforts after the contentious primary further reinforce the current positioning ahead of the November vote.
