Juraj Droba, the incumbent Bratislava Region governor since 2017 and backed by a four-party opposition coalition including SaS, PS, Democrats, and Team Bratislava, holds a commanding position in the October 24, 2026, election due to his strong prior results (63.6% in 2022) and established regional record on infrastructure and education projects. Candidate filings closed in late August with seven total entrants; the primary government-aligned challenger, little-known Hlas district chair Rastislav Gajarský—who previously managed road maintenance under Droba—emerged as the clearest rival but lacks broad name recognition or polling momentum. Earlier surveys showed Droba well ahead, aligning with trader pricing that treats the fragmented field and regional political dynamics as reinforcing his lead while leaving limited scope for late shifts before voting.
