Persistent high pressure and a stalled frontal boundary have sustained hot, humid conditions across southeast Texas, with National Weather Service forecasts showing Houston’s September 23 low near 80°F under mostly clear skies and light easterly winds. Model consensus from recent runs indicates minimal overnight cooling as dew points remain in the low 70s, keeping the daily minimum firmly in the upper 70s. Historical late-September averages hover around 72–74°F, yet the current ridge has produced lows 6–8°F above normal for the past week. The closely matched market-implied odds around the 71°F threshold versus higher ranges reflect trader focus on whether any subtle wind shift or increased cloud cover could allow slightly more radiational cooling before resolution. Updated NWS guidance and next model cycles will clarify if the pattern holds through the 48-hour window.
