Recent August CPI data at 0.8% year-on-year, matching expectations, has anchored trader views for September around the 0.7–1.0% range. Elevated energy and transport costs from sustained geopolitical pressures on oil supplies provide upward support to non-food components, while persistent weakness in domestic demand keeps food prices in deflation and limits pass-through from producer inflation. Core readings near 1% underscore the subdued consumption backdrop. The near-even split between the leading outcome bins reflects this balance of imported cost pressures against structural demand softness, with separation likely hinging on any sharp shifts in commodity prices or fresh policy measures ahead of the mid-October release.
