Recent July 2026 Eurozone HICP data at 2.9%, up from 2.8% in June and driven by energy inflation surging to 10.0% amid renewed Middle East geopolitical tensions, has reinforced trader positioning for the 3.1%+ annual outcome at 59.4% implied probability. Persistent pass-through of higher energy costs, alongside rising services inflation at 3.3% and core measures at 2.5%, continues to support elevated price pressures through year-end. Professional forecasters' 2.7% consensus for 2026 average HICP sits below current market-implied odds, highlighting uncertainty around further energy normalization versus sticky underlying components. August CPI release and ECB communications represent key near-term catalysts that could shift rate-path expectations and aggregate sentiment.
