Recent July 2026 ISM Manufacturing PMI data at 55.6—the strongest reading since May 2022 and well above the 54.0 consensus—has anchored trader expectations for the August release around the mid-55 range. Accelerated production, sustained new orders, and employment returning to expansion territory reflect broad-based momentum fueled by AI-driven capital spending and inventory rebuilding, partially offset by tariff-related front-loading and elevated prices. With closely matched probabilities across 54.0–56.9 outcomes, sentiment hinges on whether August survey respondents report continued subindex gains or moderation in new orders and supplier deliveries ahead of the September 1 release. Market-implied odds embed this uncertainty while pricing in the sector’s seventh consecutive expansion month.
