Current National Weather Service and NOAA model guidance for New York City on August 29 points to a daily maximum in the upper 70s to low 80s, with ensemble spreads creating the tight market clustering around 78–83 °F. Key differentiating factors include variable afternoon cloud cover, boundary-layer moisture, and the strength of any onshore flow or weak frontal passage that could cap heating or enhance mixing. Late-August climatology shows a historical average high near 82 °F, yet recent model runs have trended slightly cooler, reflecting modest uncertainty in insolation and wind patterns. Traders are weighting the most probable range where forecast confidence is highest while discounting outliers beyond 84 °F that would require stronger high-pressure building or clearer skies than currently indicated.
