Israeli cabinet approval in July 2026 for a limited International Stabilization Force pilot—initially capped at around 200 personnel from Morocco and others, operating in coordination with the IDF in southern areas like Rafah—marked the most concrete step toward deployment. However, full-scale rollout has stalled amid Hamas disarmament disputes, reduced contributor commitments such as Indonesia’s suspension, and ongoing Israeli strikes that killed over 100 Palestinians in August alone. Contributing nations including Morocco, Kosovo, and Albania have signed participation agreements, yet actual ground presence inside Gaza territory stays minimal or confined to preparatory phases outside the Strip. Upcoming diplomatic milestones around the Comprehensive Plan, including potential NCAG governance transfers and humanitarian funding releases, could shift timelines before year-end deadlines.
