Alfonso Scoppa’s commanding position in the Angri mayoral runoff stems from his 40.38% first-round result on May 24-25, outpacing Pasquale Mauri’s 31.3% and qualifying both for the June 7-8 ballot under Italian municipal rules. Scoppa benefits from unified backing across six civic lists emphasizing administrative renewal, while Mauri, a former mayor and Scoppa’s uncle, draws from socialist-aligned groups and additional lists. This nine-point first-round margin, combined with coalition consolidation and voter momentum in the Salernitano comune, has driven trader consensus toward Scoppa. Although the outcome remains subject to final turnout and any late developments in family-influenced local dynamics, the established lead leaves limited realistic pathways for a reversal before resolution.
