Latest National Weather Service guidance and ensemble model consensus point to a Friday high near 99°F in Austin under partly cloudy skies with light southerly flow. This pattern sustains warm, humid advection from the Gulf, with dew points in the mid-70s supporting heat indices above 105°F while limiting full solar heating through scattered afternoon cloud build-up and isolated showers. Recent days have featured similar upper-90s readings amid a broader late-summer ridge, exceeding the 1991–2020 September average high of 92°F. Trader sentiment remains split between the 98–99°F and 100–101°F bins because small differences in cloud timing or boundary-layer mixing could shift the observed maximum across the 100°F threshold before resolution.
