The Massachusetts 9th congressional district's established Democratic lean, reflected in a Cook Partisan Voting Index around D+6 and the incumbent's 56% win in 2024, anchors trader consensus on a Democratic general election victory. Bill Keating holds the seat with strong name recognition, fundraising totals exceeding $300,000 raised, and institutional support across Cape Cod, the South Shore, and New Bedford-area communities. The September 1 Democratic primary against challenger Craig Swallow will select the nominee but preserves party control regardless of outcome. Limited visibility for Republican candidates further reduces crossover potential in this solidly Democratic district. A late national Republican surge, primary-related controversy, or unusually low Democratic turnout could narrow margins, though structural barriers make shifts beyond low single digits improbable before November.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
