Democratic nominee Denise Powell holds a strong position in the open Nebraska 2nd district race following Republican incumbent Don Bacon's 2025 retirement announcement. The Omaha-area seat, which supported Kamala Harris in 2024 while backing Bacon, carries a modest Democratic lean that positions the party favorably in a midterm environment. Powell's narrow May 2026 primary victory over state Sen. John Cavanaugh consolidated support behind an organized candidate with notable fundraising strength. Republican nominee Brinker Harding, an Omaha city councilor running unopposed in the GOP primary, faces challenges in a district where recent polls show Powell ahead by low-to-mid single digits. Trader consensus at 83.5% for Democrats reflects these structural and candidate dynamics ahead of the November 3 general election, with limited near-term catalysts evident to shift the outlook substantially.

A candidate's party will be determined by their ballot-listed or otherwise identifiable affiliation with that party at the time all of the 2026 House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources. A candidate without a ballot-listed affiliation to either the Democrat or Republican parties will be considered a member of one of these parties based on the party with which they most recently expressed their intent to caucus at the time all of the House elections are conclusively called by this market's resolution sources.
This market will resolve based on the result of the election as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the United States government, specifically the Federal Election Commission (https://www.fec.gov/).
