Following Slovenia's hung parliament after the March 22, 2026, National Assembly elections—where Robert Golob's Freedom Movement secured 29 seats against Janez Janša's SDS with 28—trader consensus heavily favors Janša at 75% implied probability to become next prime minister, reflecting the right-wing bloc's 48 seats (SDS, NSi-SLS-FOKUS alliance led by Jernej Vrtovec, Democrats under Anže Logar, and Resni.ca). The bloc's election of Resni.ca's Zoran Stevanović as National Assembly president on April 10 with 48 votes underscores their leverage, rejecting Golob's national unity proposal and positioning Janša for the presidential mandate requiring 46 signatures. Ongoing coalition negotiations highlight Resni.ca's kingmaker role for a potential minority government, while Vrtovec trails at 11.5% as a compromise candidate amid stalled left-leaning talks.
