The Côte-du-Sud race remains tightly contested ahead of the October 5 Quebec general election, with Valérie Hamel of the Parti Québécois, incumbent Mathieu Rivest of the Coalition Avenir Québec, and Frédéric Poulin of the Parti Conservateur du Québec separated by narrow margins in recent riding-level projections. Hamel’s August 2026 nomination as a local nurse practitioner has bolstered PQ positioning on regional health services, while Rivest seeks re-election on his record and Poulin builds on the PCQ’s strong 2022 showing. Provincial polling trends showing the PQ and CAQ neck-and-neck, combined with a new electoral map and high undecided voter share, sustain the even split in trader consensus. Nancy St-Pierre of the Parti Libéral trails further back. Late-campaign events, turnout patterns in the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Chaudière-Appalaches areas, or shifts in third-party support could quickly alter the outcome.
