Recent National Weather Service forecasts for Atlanta show highs in the mid-90s on September 6, driven by persistent high pressure, mostly sunny skies, and light variable winds that limit mixing and allow strong daytime heating. Dew points in the low 70s support heat indices near 100–104°F, yet the actual maximum hinges on the timing and coverage of isolated afternoon thunderstorms, which could develop after peak heating or suppress temperatures if they arrive earlier. Model consensus from GFS and NAM runs clusters around 95–97°F, but small shifts in convective initiation or boundary-layer moisture explain the near-even market distribution across the 94–99°F bins. Historical September averages near 86°F underscore the current anomalous warmth, with official Atlanta observations expected to resolve the market once the daily maximum is recorded.
