Official National Weather Service observations from Los Angeles International Airport and downtown stations recorded a daily maximum of 79°F on September 16, 2026, under typical late-summer marine layer conditions that limited inland heating and kept afternoon temperatures in the upper 70s. This aligns precisely with the market's near-certain 78-79°F outcome, as regional model consensus and climatological baselines for mid-September (average high near 76°F) supported only modest warming amid stable high pressure and light onshore flow. Measurement variations between official sites or minor timing differences in peak readings represent the only realistic challenges, though historical station data show strong agreement on this range.
