An incoming early-September Pacific storm system, with its associated southerly flow, increased cloud cover, and widespread rain, is the main driver pushing Seattle's September 3 minimum temperature expectations into the low-to-mid 50s°F range. Official guidance from the National Weather Service and multiple models shows lows of 51–56°F amid showers and gusty winds that limit overnight radiative cooling while advecting cooler marine air. Historical early-September averages near 57°F provide context, but the active pattern—marked by 0.5–0.75 inches of rain and possible thunderstorms—introduces forecast spread between modest cooling from the storm and any faster clearing that could allow slightly lower readings. Trader sentiment reflects this narrow band of outcomes, with closely matched probabilities for 52–55°F versus cooler scenarios tied to model differences in storm timing and intensity.
