Traders heavily favor Beinir Johannesen at 60% implied probability to become the next Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands following the April 29, 2024, Løgting election, where his Union Party secured the largest share with 8 seats and 26% of votes. Incumbent Aksel V. Johannesen's Social Democrats slipped to 7 seats, holding steady at 29% odds amid coalition uncertainty, while Bárður á Steig Nielsen's People's Party gained 6 seats, boosting its 29% standing as a potential kingmaker. Ongoing negotiations, with Johannesen tasked first to form a majority amid pro-autonomy versus pro-Denmark divides, drive sentiment; no deal yet as talks extend into May, with smaller parties like Republic (Høgni Hoydal) and Centre (Ruth Vang) eyeing pivotal roles.
