Incumbent Republican Jeff Hurd's position strengthened significantly after primary challenger Hope Scheppelman withdrew on March 21 following President Trump's re-endorsement, unifying GOP support in Colorado's 3rd Congressional District ahead of the June 30 primaries and averting an intra-party fight in this R+5 leaning seat. A January Expedition Strategies poll showed Hurd leading Democratic primary frontrunner Alex Kelloff 48%-39% among likely voters, bolstering trader consensus at 65.5% for a Republican hold despite the district's history of close races, including Hurd's narrow 2024 victory. Democrats face an unsettled primary between Kelloff and Dwayne Romero, with recent ratings upgrades to Solid Republican by Cook Political Report reflecting Hurd's incumbency edge and favorable midterm dynamics.
