Trader consensus on Polymarket prices a 97% implied probability against NYMEX WTI crude oil futures (CL) active month daily high exceeding the $147.27 all-time high threshold by April 30, 2026, reflecting front-month contracts trading near $100 per barrel as of April 16—over 47% below the 2008 peak—amid a recent pullback from Q1 spikes driven by Middle East tensions, U.S.-Iran standoffs, and Russian sanctions boosting U.S. exports. EIA forecasts average Brent at $96/bbl for 2026, with refining margins normalizing and global supply steady, cementing this near-certain positioning despite elevated volatility. Tail risks include Strait of Hormuz closure or major supply disruptions from escalated conflict, potentially catalyzing a rapid surge.
