Recent National Weather Service and model guidance for Houston on September 3 point to a high near 89–92 °F amid southerly flow, elevated Gulf moisture, and a 50–70 % chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. These conditions promote daytime cloud cover that limits peak solar heating while increasing humidity and the heat index above 100 °F. Trader emphasis on the 88–89 °F bin reflects the balance between lingering summer warmth and convective cooling, consistent with early-September climatology of 89 °F average highs. Key variables ahead include the exact timing of storms and any revisions in short-range model consensus before resolution.
