Recent National Weather Service guidance and ensemble model consensus point to a persistent marine layer and moderate onshore westerly flow over the San Francisco Bay Area, holding daytime highs near or slightly below the early-September climatological average of 70°F. This pattern, driven by an upper-level trough, favors afternoon maxima in the upper 60s to low 70s, with stratus burn-off timing and local wind strength creating the narrow spread between the closely matched 68–69°F and 70–71°F market bins. Historical analogs from similar late-summer trough setups show that modest shifts in marine-layer depth or afternoon sea-breeze strength can swing the daily maximum by 2–4°F. Updated NWS short-range forecasts and high-resolution model runs through Sunday morning will provide the key data releases likely to refine trader positioning.
