Massachusetts voters will decide Question 3 on November 3, 2026, which would replace separate party primaries for state offices with a single all-party primary advancing the top two candidates to the general election. Trader sentiment remains closely balanced around even odds because Democratic leaders and both major parties oppose the change, citing risks of reduced party influence and advantages for well-funded candidates, while moderate Democrats and backers including Danielle Allen argue it could broaden appeal and modestly boost turnout. Recent developments include the Supreme Judicial Court’s June clearance of legal challenges, August endorsements against the measure by 27 officials, and September voter guides highlighting mixed evidence from similar systems in California and Washington. Upcoming polling, campaign spending, and turnout patterns in the final weeks could shift implied probabilities in either direction before election day.
