Bo French holds the lead in trader pricing for the 2026 Texas Railroad Commissioner general election due to Texas’s long-standing Republican advantage in statewide contests and his primary victory over incumbent Jim Wright in May. French, a former Tarrant County GOP chair, secured the nomination on a platform emphasizing energy production and conservative priorities, outpacing Democratic nominee Jon Rosenthal in recent July and August polls by narrow margins of three points amid elevated undecided shares among independents. Rosenthal, a state representative and former oil-field engineer, runs unopposed in his primary and highlights technical expertise on grid reliability and regulation, but faces structural headwinds in a state where Democrats have not won statewide office in decades. Fundraising data shows French with a cash-on-hand edge heading into the November 3 vote, while third-party options remain marginal.
