Recent National Weather Service forecasts for Austin peg the September 2 high near 99–100°F amid a persistent warm, southerly flow and strong high pressure. Model consensus supports above-normal temperatures relative to the early-September climatological average of roughly 94°F, with limited cloud cover and light winds favoring peak heating. The near-even split between 98–99°F (44%) and 100–101°F (42%) market-implied odds captures forecast uncertainty around afternoon convective development and minor model spread in maximum temperature. Historical records show September 2 highs have reached 106°F, underscoring the potential for outliers if subsidence strengthens further. Updated model runs and NWS briefings over the next 48 hours will refine these thresholds ahead of resolution.
