**Current NWS and model guidance indicate a high in the low-to-mid 70s for Chicago on September 18, with official readings most likely at O’Hare or Midway Airport.** Easterly flow off Lake Michigan is expected to moderate daytime heating near the lakefront, keeping maxima cooler than inland suburbs and favoring the 70–75 °F range that dominates trader positioning. Mostly cloudy skies and moderate humidity will further limit insolation, while any breaks in cloud cover or a slight wind shift could push readings toward the upper end of that band. Historical September averages near 75 °F provide context, but the present synoptic pattern—persistent onshore flow and limited mixing—explains why probabilities cluster tightly around 72–75 °F rather than higher or lower outcomes. Updated model runs and the evening forecast discussion will be the next key inputs for traders.
