Traders have converged on 33°C as the near-certain outcome for Hong Kong’s highest temperature on September 12, 2026, because official Hong Kong Observatory readings and multiple forecast models consistently show daytime maxima reaching or slightly exceeding that threshold at key stations, consistent with above-normal late-summer conditions under ongoing El Niño influence. Recent observational data from stations such as Chek Lap Kok and Yuen Long recorded peaks near or at 34°C while the reference network points to a daily high of 33°C, aligning with climatological expectations for September when very hot days (≥33°C) occur several times per season. The market-implied odds reflect this strong consensus backed by real-time surface observations and model agreement on limited cooling from easterly flow and scattered showers. Only an unexpected late-day surge above 34°C or a revision in the official reporting station’s maximum could realistically alter the result, though current data make such shifts improbable before resolution.

The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Max (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm
In the event that there is no data for the observation date by 11:59 PM ET on the seventh day following the observation date, this market will resolve to the lowest bracket.
This market will resolve once data for this date has been published on the resolution source, or by 11:59 PM ET on the seventh day following the observation date, whichever comes first.
The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market.
Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.
