Latest National Weather Service and ensemble forecasts show a warming trend driven by weak upper-level ridging and a shrinking marine layer over Southern California, with morning low clouds and fog giving way to mostly sunny conditions and light onshore flow on September 23. This setup supports afternoon highs primarily in the upper 70s to low 80s at coastal stations such as LAX, consistent with the market’s leading 78-79°F bin at 51% implied probability. Model consensus places the most likely peak near or slightly above the late-September climatological average of 76°F, though weak offshore gradients could allow brief excursions into the mid-80s. Traders appear to weigh these official guidance updates heavily against historical variability and the final 24-hour observational window before resolution.
