Recent National Weather Service forecasts indicate an overnight low in the mid-60s for Chicago on September 18, with model consensus centering around 64–68°F amid persistent cloud cover, scattered showers, and easterly flow off Lake Michigan. These conditions limit radiational cooling and maintain higher dew points near 60°F, elevating minimum temperatures above the 1991–2020 climatological average of 57.7°F. Trader-implied odds cluster tightly on the 64–69°F bins because ensemble guidance shows only modest spread in boundary-layer moisture and wind speeds, with little evidence for stronger cold advection. Key resolution factors include the precise timing of any clearing overnight and official thermometer readings at O’Hare or Midway, both of which will be finalized by early September 19.
