Recent upward revisions to South Korea's 2026 inflation outlook, with the Bank of Korea projecting 2.7% headline CPI and the Ministry of Economy and Finance lifting its estimate to 2.6%, have positioned the 2.7%–2.9% range as the market's leading outcome at 37.9% implied probability. June CPI accelerated to 3.2% year-over-year, the highest since late 2023, driven by energy prices and won weakness that sustained pass-through effects above the 2% target. Trader consensus reflects these data points alongside the central bank's July base rate hike to 2.75%, while assigning 26.0% odds to 3.0%+ outcomes given ongoing geopolitical and currency risks. Key upcoming releases include further monthly CPI prints and monetary policy updates that could refine the annual average.
