Chen Ting-fei of the Democratic Progressive Party holds the leading position in the Tainan mayoral race ahead of the November 28, 2026 vote, yet Hsieh Lung-chieh of the Kuomintang has narrowed the gap according to recent polling. Chen secured her party's nomination after winning the January primary against Lin Chun-hsien and other contenders, while the KMT selected Hsieh as its standard-bearer late last year. The tightening contest reflects Hsieh's improving visibility and local outreach, alongside broader voter considerations such as economic conditions and cross-strait policy preferences in this DPP-leaning special municipality. Minor candidates including Lin Yi-feng remain on the periphery with single-digit support. Trader pricing continues to treat the outcome as competitive, with potential separation likely to emerge from upcoming campaign events, candidate debates, or shifts in national party momentum before election day.
