Recent polling shows the BC NDP holding a modest lead over the Conservatives (typically 41-45% to 35-37%), positioning the governing party as the favorite in the snap election called for October 24, 2026. Premier David Eby’s decision to dissolve the legislature capitalized on acute opposition instability, including the recent resignation of Conservative leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay, multiple defections, expulsions, and subsequent realignments involving CentreBC and interim Conservative leadership under Lorne Doerkson. These developments have consolidated right-of-centre support but left limited time for recovery during the abbreviated campaign. Traders appear to weigh the NDP’s incumbency and urban strength against regional Conservative advantages and broader voter discontent with provincial direction, resulting in the current implied probabilities. Minor parties such as the Greens remain marginal in seat projections.
