Incumbent Democratic Governor Ned Lamont secured his party's nomination for a third term after defeating progressive challenger Josh Elliott in the August 11, 2026, primary by a roughly two-to-one margin. He faces Republican state Senator Ryan Fazio in the November 3 general election. Connecticut's strong Democratic lean, evidenced by consistent double-digit polling leads for Lamont and the party's performance in recent statewide contests, underpins trader consensus around a Democratic victory. Fazio's nomination followed a canceled Republican primary with limited broader name recognition statewide. The race carries a Solid Democratic rating across major forecasters. A major scandal, significant economic downturn, or unexpected national political realignment could still alter the trajectory before Election Day.

A candidate shall be considered to represent a party in the event that he or she is the nominee of the party in question. Candidates other than the Democratic or Republican nominee (e.g., Greens, Libertarian, independent) may be added at a later date.
Candidates who run as independents will not be encompassed by the “Democrat” or “Republican” options regardless of any affiliation they may have with the party.
The resolution source for this market is the Associated Press, Fox News, and NBC. This market will resolve once all three sources call the race for the same candidate. If all three sources haven’t called the race in this state for the same candidate, this market will resolve based on the official certification.
