Florida's 27th congressional district carries a Republican-leaning partisan voting index of R+6 and is rated Likely Republican by major forecasters including Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato's Crystal Ball. Incumbent Republican Maria Elvira Salazar, first elected in 2020 and re-elected with 60.4% in 2024, faces primary challengers ahead of the August 18, 2026, primaries, while Democrats field a crowded field that includes several declared candidates. Recent assessments note a modestly shifting political environment in South Florida and the potential emergence of a stronger Democratic contender, which has tempered ratings from Solid Republican without altering the district's underlying structural advantages for the Republican nominee in the November general election.
