Recent July ISM Services PMI data at 54.1, slightly below consensus forecasts yet marking the 25th straight month of expansion, anchors trader expectations for the August reading near 53–54. Resilient new orders and business activity indices near 57–59, alongside FIFA World Cup-related spending, support moderate growth in the services sector, which comprises the bulk of U.S. economic activity. Offsetting factors include the employment index slipping back into contraction at 47.4, persistent energy price pressures from Middle East developments, and lingering tariff effects that have tempered but not derailed sentiment. Broader manufacturing PMI strength to 55.6 and S&P Global services readings around 53.6 reinforce a baseline outlook for contained expansion in the low-to-mid 50s. The upcoming release will reflect these dynamics amid stable labor market conditions and inflation monitoring.
